The concept for Montsechia began as a way to explore adaptive modular growth for urban design. What if a city on Mars can grow radially to allow for its modular vertical urban areas, known as City Pods, to remain walkable, protected from Mars' harsh atmosphere, and always optimized for citizens' well-being so they can thrive?

MONTSECHIA: Adaptive Sensory City on Mars

The concept for Montsechia began as a way to explore adaptive modular growth for urban design. What if a city on Mars can grow radially to allow for its modular vertical urban areas, known as City Pods, to remain walkable, protected from Mars' harsh atmosphere, and always optimized for citizens' well-being so they can thrive?

Capabilities like water creation and recycling, food farming, transportation networks, City Pods with Second Skies, Radial City Blocks, and Vertical Forest Parks are all included to make Montsechia a Martian city that is optimized for human life to go beyond comfort, and find deeper well-being on Mars.

The concept design for Montsechia has been realized in a short film, which was created using Houdini software for procedural modeling and rendering with RedShift (GPU). Photoshop, Magix Music Maker, and Sony Vegas Pro were used for final editing and film production. You will notice that the Montsechia film guides you through its concept — from its visualization as an urban plan to the way it grows poetically on the Martian landscape.
